We haven't yet seen
The extreme cruelties of men-
That's why we still live with hope,
Warm hope like the warm feathers
Of a mother-bird around her babies,
Hope that is like the smell of first shower
After long, hot, dry, rainless days.
We live near the burned cities,
We live near the abandoned ports,
We live like a trembling mother-bird
Waiting in her storm-broken nest
To see the sun to rise.
Life is so wonderful,so lovely!
Love is like thin white bird
Looking for a little food to eat.
Our thoughts are like soft silk-cotton
Flying away with the seeds inside.
One day they might find land somewhere
And give birth to a green seedling.

The Doors Of A Dreamland
His hairs were like soft clouds
Colored by the rays of the rising sun
His arms were like a pair of wings
Flying towards the blue horizon.
His hands were full of fire and water
Like the doors of a dreamland,
I knocked with an anxious heart
Then found myself on a firy sand.
He did strike me with his thunder
He did flood me with his rain,
He did crack me with his spear
He smashed me, revived me again.
He did set my heart on fire
Then the darkness vanished,
I saw billions of stars rising
And another billion extinguished.

Men And The Mother
Poet:Mallika Dhar

Title: MEN AND THE MOTHER
We built those towers and monuments of stone
With a high hope to touch the heaven and hell-
But only clouds blocked our eyes, air got rarer
We, the mundane human, couldn't breath well.
We blasted off the rocks to find out gold
We found, but not much to satisfy our greed,
Only our holy air and water got poisoned,
Only we forgot our real and true need.
The firy mother laughed at us from lightning,
We mistook that as whistle of typhoon,
We supplied endless souls to sacrifice to her
She gave us both her curse and boon.
Now, we stand quietly under the midnight sky
Full of planets and stars and numerous galaxies,
We realise our true need is only love and light
Then we join our plams and fall on our knees.

When The Cloud Gave Way
For a long, long, long time
There was a thick black cloud
Over my head.
It covered my whole sky
I couldn't see your face.
I went to see the lake,
I went to the rose garden,
I smiled, I ran, I jumped.
But nothing could remove
That stubborn cloud.
It blackened my days and nights
It whipped me with the flock of despair
I couldn't sleep, couldn't rest,
I tossed and turned,
Tossed and turned.
Then one day-
The cloud gave way,
I saw the sun.
Cheerful golden sunbeams,
Touched my burning heart.
I saw your face,
You, my dearest one.
Now, leaning on your strong arms,
I've kept my head on your shoulder.
My heart is now in deep peace.
You are the one I wanted so eagerly!

Magic
Magic
There is a magic in the raindrops,
When they come down from the clouds above,
To the trees,leaves,bushes,grass and roofs.
The music of their journey is
Soft, soothing and lovely.
There is a magic in the snowdrops,
They look like heavenly flowers,
Showering from the garden of the sky.
The music of their journey is silent.
But if you're quiet enough, you can feel it.
There is a great magic in the sunlight,
When it shines on the soft blue,
When it shines on the rain showered trees,
And grass, when it shines on the snow,
When it shines on face you love.
Its music is silent, but it touches
Your kind and compassionate heart.

Salt & Sugar
Salt and Sugar
If anyone writes a story or a long novel
About an ancient city, the days and nights
Of thousands of years, the sighs and laughs
The cruelty and love, all the sorrow
And little pieces of glittering pleasure,
Fleeting moments-
Would that story be salty or sweet?
There may be plenty of stories like that
About those cities long gone,
Invisible waves of time come back alive,
Through those looking glasses,
To murmur at a mortal ear one more time.
I'm searching for a magic door of time-
One fine evening, under the soft green sky
I might find one,with a flowering creeper
On it and it will open with a soft push...
I'll enter through the salt and sugar.

Two Neighbors
Two Neighbors
If you don't want to tell me your name
That's fine, it won't bother me very much,
I'll call you by a name as my heart wishes
With my love and care and subtle touch.
I don't know where you're from
But that's fine,it won't make me upset-
I know we're all on the same old planet
To take the same air in and not to forget.
Birds from my backyard will fly high
And one day they'll reach your garden-
Rivers flowing through your valleys,
Will reach my seas and my velvet ocean.
You live on the same world where I live
That's my only cause to stay alive,
We're under the same dark blue sky
Filled with billion galaxies flying alive.

After The Rainfall
After The Rainfall
Orange clouds are flying
Towards the sunken sun near horizon,
All the ground is guilded by
The pink-orange brilliunce of the sun.
A bright rainbow is up there on eastern sky,
Colorful silky birds are flying high-
Raindrops on the leaves have become
The drops of pearls and diamonds,
My dear, I am seeing your smiling face
Up above,on rain-showered clear blue sky.
